Let me just say that I am thrilled that Christmas is so much closer than it was and that I am done with the Peg People.
And now for the girls.
When I would go to Hobby Lobby and buy peg people. I didn’t pay attention to how many bags I actually got. I would go through out the months and just pick up a bag. I never kept track or anything, but by the time I was ready to paint them I had 32 pegs for a nativity that just needed eight.
So since my kids loved playing with the nativity pegs I decided I would paint them some pegs for them. They are for Christmas but here are some of the mermaid pegs for my daughters.

Sorry for the blurry pics. They are the only ones that I had. I don’t want my daughters to see them.
I have also tried to use the enamel paints from Folkart. They are in the same sections as the regular acrylic paints at the craft store.
The only thing I have to do left is to put a clear coat on them so that they will be protected while they are played with.
Let me know what you think.
You only get arms if you are holding something. I have the backsides, do you want to see them too?
Can you believe that I don’t have a Nativity Scene in any of my Christmas decorations?!
I decided this year that I wanted to have a Nativity scene for my mantel but wanted something that would be sturdy since more than likely my kids would play with it. I had started out buying a pack of peg people at Hobby Lobby whenever I had the chance to go. I ended up with a lot of peg people. But I have plans for those extras so it all works out.
I find that I have a hard time painting people without faces, but it would be wise to paint the face last that way if I mess up it won’t be so aggravating to correct.
I have a 70′s vibe going on that I am not quite sure how I got there. Wait until you see the wisemen. You will know what I mean then.
The red wise man has a Kung Fu vibe about him. He is my favorite so far. Once I have more details I will take a final picture to show.
I have more peg people that I am making for my kids too. The daughters will be getting some mermaids and family to play with. For Julian I decided that I will be trying my hand at the Avengers for him. He really liked the movie so I am hoping to do the characters justice with my painting skills. We will see what happens though.
I will post more pictures once I have things worked on some more.
I was cruising on Pinterest and found this tutorial on making a binder cover for three ring binders. Go here.
Which gave me the inspiration to make one for me and my friend. I used what I had on hand.
I use this as my tote for my Primary binder since I am the secretary.
Then I worked one up for the Primary President. Here is hers.
Here is the front.
Inside front.
Inside back. The PP wanted the black and white canvas that she got from the home dec section at Joann’s. Then I used the black bias tape for the edges of the pockets.
On either one I didn’t use a paper pattern but used the binder itself as the pattern. I did have trouble with the PP’s because her binder was slightly different than the one that I had.
But won’t let the cat out of the bag yet. Nothing major but it is the reason why I haven’t been updating my blog. So thanks to all those who follow. I haven’t forgotten about you but it will be a while before I am back.
I seemed to have lost my mojo too and the fact that I can’t see my sewing area very well right now doesn’t help. It is covered in clothes. I hope to have something to post soon.

When I last wrote I was working on a list of things to do. Then the night before last I dreamed a dream. Don’t you just love it when you dream up ideas to craft. If only I would remember to write them down instead of depending on my memory to recreate the craft.
This time I wrote them down. This is my Advent Calendar Bunting. I wanted a quickly made Advent calendar for my family but also bunting. I have been seeing the bunting all over the place and thought that this would be a great idea of combining the both.

First I drew out a diamond shape going 3 inches across and 3 inches to the point from the middle of the diamond. Next I cut out all the diamonds needed for the bunting.

Next I painted on the numbers. I was planning to embroider the numbers on but wanted to make this in time for December. Next time I will embroider the numbers.

Then I also marked where my slits would be on the back side of the triangle. I positioned it just low enough so that you couldn't see the slit from the top. I made a long oval with paint, then put Fray Check in the middle just to make sure that it would be pretty secure after use.

After the paint and Fray Check had dried I cut the slits and pinned the diamonds in half on a ribbon that I had. I folded the diamonds in half with the ribbon right in the middle.

I then sewed the triangle closed. I started at the point since there were tails that I grabbed onto to help pull the felt through the machine. I had started at the corner on the ribbon, but once I got to the point I couldn't get the point through with out it getting caught in my feed dogs.

Here is the back, these are actually to small for candies or anything like that.I will be making coupons to roll up and put in for my kids. Also you can see in the upper left hand corner where the felt doesn't quite lay flat. I went back and put a dab of Fabric Tack in the middle to keep the middle from popping up and making it lay flat.

Here it is on my mantel. Now the question is how do you hang bunting properly?
Let me know what you think! Merry Christmas!!
I thought that this was the funniest thing that I have heard so far today.
Check out this link and leave a comment. So funny!!

I am letting my readers know, well my one reader, that I am taking a break from blogging until I get batteries for my camera and that October is filling up with activities fast. Once I have another moment I will be back with pictures to post.

I just had the hardest time with the theme that I had prior. As much as I loved it I had a hard time accepting the fact that there wasn’t the ability to see prior posts. You could have gone to the archive, true. But even that was limited to what could fit on the screen and not any more than that.
So here I am taking this theme for a trial run and we will see how it goes.
In other news, I am taking the week off because we are going to have a yard sale and I need all my extra time to find what I can sale and then sale it! I hope I make lots of money.
I do have some things that I am working on to post about but it won’t happen until after the yard sale. See you next week.
