We ran late and missed the chili cook off. At least we got there in time for the trick or treating part. I know that Jay had a really good time going around asking for candy. I had signed up to make a salad and totally forgot until the last minute. We left the house at the last minute and then ran to Walmart to pickup the salad fixings and a bucket for Jay and Nattie (since I forgot those too.) By the time we got to the church the dinner was already on and didn't need my salad, which in reality was cole slaw, I was going to pull everything together there. That didn't happen. I also forgot my canned goods for the silent auction. I could kick myself...
I had never seen so many people there and so many kids running amok as well. There were so many costumes, mostly store bought, but pretty cool costumes. I tried to get Jay to dress up in his Spider costume but he refused. Both Reinaldo and I tried to get him into the costume before the trick or treating part of the social. He still refused. I think those extra arms kinda freaked him out. So instead he was a grease monkey. Julian started to mess with the tires on the truck and got grease and dirt all over himself and me. I completely forgot about the trunk or treat this year and didn't have is costume pulled together like I have in the past. I can't believe that I messed this year up....Oh, well.
We won't be here for Halloween anyways, but I did want Jay to enjoy the Halloween tradition, whether dressed up or not, of going around and begging for candy. I really wanted to go and let Jay have a good time. Which I believe that he did, but why is it that I push this to have him to go to? Earlier this afternoon Jay was misbehaving and of course doing the mami thing I am telling him and kinda bribing him by saying "Do you want to go trick or treating tonight? If you do then you need to do ___________ before we can go!" Just fill in the blank. I wanted him to go pee pee, pick up his toys, eat his snack, stop whining, no temper tantrums....stuff like that. That was the reason we were late. I was trying to clean the house and I am telling Jay repeatedly to get his shoes. They are in the closet so he knows where they are. He just roamed around the house doing other things than getting his shoes. I keep saying " Get your shoes or we aren't going to go trick or treating tonight!". That threat didn't bother him at all. We could have stayed home and it wouldn't have mattered to him, but for me I really wanted to go. Why? I wasn't trick or treating....I guess that I will have to wait until he is older and the threat works.
As I am reviewing what I have written, I forgot the camera too!! Man, thank goodness I keep a diary otherwise my children will never know what we did when they were babies.
